Pinehurst Real Estate

Founded in 1895 by the Tufts Family of Boston, Mass, Pinehurst is known as the Home of American Golf. The Village of Pinehurst is a quaint New England village located in the heart of North Carolina’s Sandhills area. The famed No. 2 golf course at Pinehurst Resort has hosted two US OPEN Golf Championships in 1999 and 2005 with a return to Pinehurst in 2014. Pinehurst Resort also hosted the US Amateur in 2008. There are forty-three golf courses within a ten mile radius of Pinehurst and an additional five courses planned to open in the next few years. The Village of Pinehurst was originally built as a winter health resort but over the years has developed into a residential and vacation destination for people from all over the world. Southern Pines Real Estate

The way that Pinehurst and Southern Pines are nestled into one another, its hard to tell where Pinehurst ends and Southern Pines begins. Residing among some of the oldest and largest Longleaf Pines in the country, Southern Pines is best known for its versatility. The charming town of Southern Pines was incorporated in 1887 and is home to many restaurants, pubs and boutiques. Southern Pines is a unique combination of small-town ambience and big-city attractions. Retirees, active duty military personnel, working families, and singles – create a diverse population.

There are numerous activities and attractions that are sure to please everyone. Besides golf and shopping there is a large equestrian community with over 3000 acres of riding trails. The Weymouth Nature Center offers walking trails and educational seminars. The Sandhills Community College in Southern Pines is one of the jewels of the community, offering continuing education and teaching possibilities. Their thirty-two acre horticultural gardens are open to the public and offers educational adventure to anyone interested in plants, design and nature. The back gate of Ft Bragg borders Southern Pines which makes for an easy commutes for military and contractual personnel working at Fort Bragg or Pope Air Force Base.

Surrounding Communities

West End is a community that consists of Seven Lakes and Foxfire. At over 820 acres, Lake Auman located on the west side of Seven Lakes is the largest lake in the community. There are also two golf courses in this area. Foxfire Village is located 6 miles west of Pinehurst and has two golf courses with two more planned over the next couple of years. The towns of Aberdeen and Vass abut Fort Bragg and make easy commutes for military personnel. Whispering Pines is a golf community that consists of three courses and four lakes and also is an easy commute to Ft Bragg and Pope Air Force Base.
