Weather in the Sandhills

When thinking about what brings people to the Sandhills you can’t discount the weather. Most people who come here enjoy the many outdoor activities that are available to them. Everyone knows about the great golf courses. Many come here for the wonderful equestrian community, others enjoy the terrain for road biking. Still others appreciate the diverse culture that can be found in our communities. No matter what one’s reason for relocating there is one thing that all share in common about the Sandhills and that is the weather.

Like just about everywhere on the east coast we do have warm summers with average high temperatures of 87 degrees. There is no better place to be in the Fall with temperatures averaging 72 degrees. Winters are temperate with average daily highs about 53 degrees and then comes spring with average highs of 72 degrees. Our low temperatures rarely get below freezing and our annual rain fall is approximately 48 inches.

All of this adds up to a wonderful climate to enjoy all the outdoor activities that are afforded those who choose to relocate and live in the Pinehurst/Southern Pines area of North Carolina.
