Last week’s I blogged about the CNN’smoney.com article listing the top 25 places to retire in America. Often I read these ” best of” lists and wonder how they determine what makes the list and what qualifiers are used to justify the outcome. What I plan on doing over the next few weeks is to blog about what I believe it is that makes the Sandhill’s a great place to retire.

In the news today we are discussing health care and how it is best to provide health care to all Americans. So it is health care that I will blog about this week.

First Health Moore Regional Hospital is a 385 bed acute care not for profit hospital serving Moore County and the five surrounding counties of the Pinehurst, Southern Pines area. First Health has a medical staff of over 200 physicians, over 2700 professional staff and more than 750 volunteer’s, most from the active retirement community.

First Health has received many awards and distinctions over the last ten years. Considered to be among one of the best regional hospitals in the country FirstHealth Moore Regional has highly acclaimed cardiac, oncology and neurology departments. Just this week it was report that First Health along with Pinehurst Medical Group participated in a very successful drug trial sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim, a leading research-driven pharmaceutical company, related to advancements in treatment for atrial fibrillation. Just last month Drs. Andy Kiser and Mark Landers performed their Convergent Procedure on televangelist Pat Robertson, who traveled from his home in Virginia to have the procedure at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
